Amy Halverstadt

Amy Halverstadt received her BA from Dartmouth College, her MA in international affairs from George Washington University, and her MS in exercise science also from George Washington. She conducted her exercise science master’s thesis on exercise in women with breast cancer and received the George Washington University Academic Excellence Award. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in exercise physiology at the University of Maryland in order to further her career in research and teaching. Halverstadt is certified as a health and fitness instructor by the American College of Sports Medicine and as a personal trainer b the American Council on Exercise. Her work in the field has included developing fitness and quality-of-life programs from seniors, children, and breast cancer survivors, as well as working as a certified personal trainer. She also has served as the Governor’s Appointee to the Oklahoma Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. In 1996, Halverstadt co-founded EM-POWER. In 1999, she taught human anatomy and physiology at George Washington. She currently lives in Washington, D.C., where she continues to run her own consulting business and works with other health professionals to empower breast cancer survivors through research, education, and exercise programming.
