Andrea Leonard co-founded EM-POWER with Amy Halverstadt in 1996. She earned her BA from the University of Maryland in 1990 and continued her education to pursue a career as a personal trainer. She is certified as a conditioning specialist by the National Sports Performance Association, as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise, as a health and fitness instructor by the American College of Sports Medicine, and as a special populations expert by the Cooper Institute. Previously, she was director of personal training at the National Capital YMCA in Washington, D.C. Leonard founded and currently operates Leading Edge Fitness Consultants, an exercise and wellness consulting corporation, in which she continues to work with both healthy individuals and those with special needs. In January 2000, she relocated to West Linn, Oregon with her husband, Scott, and son, Dylan. She dedicates herself to improving the lives of breast cancer survivors through a new, nonprofit organization that she recently founded, the Breast Cancer Survivors Foundation. The foundation was formed as an information source and provider of grants and outreach programs for those affected by breast cancer.
